In mid January, we flew directly from Tahiti to Auckland in New Zealand's North
island. It was here that we began a five week outdoor adventure that
included incredible sightseeing, hiking and golf excursions. Our first few
days in New Zealand were spent on a small island called Waiheke. After touring Waiheke's vineyards and sheep farmland, we
returned to Auckland to meet up with a small
group
of Montreux Country Club members for a 12 day golfing tour
to some of the best courses New Zealand has to offer.
After saying goodbye to our golfing friends, we continued our tour of New
Zealand by returning to Queenstown in the South island for eight days of "tramping"
(hiking) on the Milford and Routeburn tracks. These tracks are considered
some of the finest in the world and they certainly lived up to the billing.
Following our outdoor
tramping adventures, we checked into a fantastic small
"resort" called Blanket Bay for some
much needed pampering. We then "hired" a car and drove
for miles along the West Coast of the South island to explore
fishing towns and massive glaciers.
We ended our New Zealand journey in the quaint city of
Christchurch
before catching a flight to Sydney in the land
down under.
